- יְחִידִיm. (v. preced. wds.) 1) singular, single, lonely. Macc.23b בלשון י׳ in the singular number, opp. ל׳ רבים.Kidd.20a (expl. בגפו, Ex. 21:3) י׳ נכנסוכ׳ single (unmarried) he entered Ab. III, 4 המהלך בדרך י׳ who travels alone. Ib. IV, 8 אל תהי דן י׳וכ׳ do not hold court as a single judge, for there is only One who judges singly; a. fr.Fem. יְחִידִית. Y.Kil.II, 28a bot. גפן י׳ a single (isolated) vine tree. Y.Ab. Zar. IV, 44a top מצבה כל שהיא י׳ it is called matsebah when consisting of one piece (v. בִּימוּס); a. e.Pl. יְחִידִיּוֹת.
